Garden Design

Garden Design by Sally Cunis

Beautiful, distinctive, functional and

sustainable gardens designed and created…

A little bit of background…

I have been designing gardens since 1988 and have worked on my present garden in South Yorkshire for twenty years; it is an on-going project.

My training as a Geographer, Chartered Surveyor and Garden Designer, combined with a lifelong passion for gardens and plants, gives me a wealth of experience in both the practical and decorative side of Garden Design.

My work covers a wide spectrum from large country gardens of several acres to town gardens, courtyards and the design of beautiful borders. Whatever the size of the plot, I aim to produce a garden to suit your lifestyle and budget which is sustainable and appropriate to its surroundings. I can advise on gardens for wildlife, for children, for retirement; I offer advice on revamping mature gardens, planting up containers, ponds and garden maintenance.

I prefer to use locally sourced plants, materials and labour. I can recommend local contractors, gardeners and tree surgeons.

I write a regular gardening column in Around Town magazine and have also written for Cannon Hall Garden Centre magazine. Periodically I lecture on subjects such as Garden Design, cottage gardens and on innovative ways of creating decorative but edible gardens on a small scale. A practical demonstration may be included.

For the last five years I have been the occasional gardening expert on the Sunday morning gardening phone-in for BBC Radio Sheffield. I also help out at Horsfields Nursery in Silkstone.
